Service is more than a department at St. Paul Harley-Davidson® — it’s who we are... Boasting more than 250 years of collective Harley-Davidson® motorcycle experience and performance savvy, we are not just factory trained, we are real-world tested professionals.
In addition to outstanding maintenance and customer service, our model Service Department is also well known for custom and performance work.
St. Paul Harley-Davidson® is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and affiliated only with the best services and products available for you, our valued customers.
SPHD has a continuous training program that keeps our staff up to date and some of the most knowledgeable service professionals in the industry.
We are fully staffed with twelve factory-trained technicians (nine of whom are ranked as Master Technicians and/or Masters of Service Technology by Harley-Davidson Motor Company), three Service Advisors, two Service Parts Specialists and five Service Assistants. All supported by our Service Administrator, a Warranty Administrator, and Service Manager.

SPHD’s Service Manager is Brent Godwin. Brent has had an impressive career with Harley-Davidson® and Buell® that began right out of High School as an entry-level technician. He quickly rose through the ranks and went on to work at several factory authorized dealerships and one aftermarket shop along the way.
Having performed nearly all roles a dealership has to offer and every phase of Service Operations, Brent left the dealer network in 1995 to become an instructor for MMI. There he taught the Harley-Davidson® late model and specialty courses for entry–level techs, antique restoration, Engine Rebuild & Performance and factory PHD classes for dealership technicians.
Catching the eye of Harley-Davidson University in Milwaukee, he was offered a position at HDU as a technical trainer and curriculum developer in 1997. In the course of the next thirteen years Brent moved from HDU, to engineering and several managerial roles throughout the Quality, Reliability and Technical Service Division of Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Landing here at St. Paul Harley-Davidson® in 2010 as our Service Manager.

Lead Technician – Dan Hein worked part-time in a motorcycle shop after high school and trained as a Small Engine Technician at Midstate Technical Institute in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, graduating in 1983. Dan worked in the small engine industry before being hired at his first Harley-Davidson dealership in 1985. After fifteen years as a dealership service technician and one year as Service Manager, Dan joined St. Paul Harley-Davidson® as a technician for the next four years then went to work in the custom motorcycle industry for another five years. In 2009, Dan rejoined the St. Paul Harley-Davidson® Service Team with 29 years of training and experience; including Screamin’ Eagle® Performance and more than a dozen Harley-Davidson service schools, Power Commander, Machining, EFI, Welding, S&S Stroker/Sidewinder, VFI, and X-Wedge schools. Dan also brings over 12 years of tuning experience using wide band oxygen sensor (Wego) technology for both carbureted and fuel injected motorcycles. Dan has designed several engine performance packages using Screamin’ Eagle®, S&S. Fueling and other parts. These packages have real world torque increases at normal and high RPMs, with an eye towards sustained longevity and durability. |
| Service Technician - John Campbell is a 2005 graduate of Motorcycle Mechanics Institute Phoenix with specialties in early and late model Harley-Davidson® and performance. After school John worked at Woodstock Harley-Davidson in Illinois as a technician. John went to Germany and sold vehicles to military personnel, including Harley® motorcycles. John joined the St. Paul Harley-Davidson® service team in 2009 where he quickly became a strong team member with in-depth process knowledge. John owns three motorcycles; a 2007 Road Glide®, a 1985 FLTC and a 1974 Honda chopper. John has an easy going personality having seven years of industry experience and is a valuable asset to St. Paul Harley-Davidson®.

| Service Technician - Monty Chalk has been with St. Paul Harley-Davidson® since 2002, but began his wrenching career back in 1995. Several states and many experiences later there are few issues or model years he can’t handle. Monty earned his Master rating and continues to be a one of our go to technicians. When not playing with Harley® motorcycles, he is likely to be found building vintage cars, trucks, bikes or just about anything else.
| |
| Service Technician - Dorian Dial is a Master of Service Technology — the highest level of achievement HDMC acknowledges — and is also a factory trained Buell® specialist. Dorian has been with St. Paul Harley-Davidson® for more than 12 years with 17 years of collective product knowledge and experience. He is one of the founders of our Accident Division and currently serves as its estimator and technical lead. In other words, he flat out does it all! When Dorian isn’t busy tearing it up on the bench, he’s probably out getting some much deserved seat time on his FL.
| |
| Service Technician – Mike Heininger is a Motorcycle Mechanics Institute Graduate, class of 2006. Mike took the early and late model Harley-Davidson® modules, along with Suzuki and Buell®. He spent time during school in the Phoenix area working as a small engine technician for a rental company. Mike has spent time in the Minnesota dirt bike racing scene and rides a 1999 FXR2. He is current with all PHD training and enjoys electrical diagnostic work and fussy handlebar/wiring jobs that many would rather avoid. Mike also enjoys playing pool and snowboarding.
| |
| Service Technician - Bob Huiras joined the St. Paul Harley-Davidson® crew at the millennium mark in 2000, after a variety of jobs that were too much like work and only half as rewarding as making HD® motorcycles run right. Bob has more than 12 years of technician experience and is currently rated as a Master of both chassis and electrical systems. He is the primary technician for police / fleet vehicles in the metro-area and serves as back-up for major collision repairs. However, Bob is comfortable with any job that finds its way to his bench. Bob likes to relax far from the city and when not at work at SPHD you are likely to find him in the woods, if at all.

| Service Technician – Tim Johnson is a graduate of the automotive service program at Dakota County Technical Institute and has one and a half years of GM ASAP training. He is a 11 year veteran of the St. Paul Harley-Davidson® service team with current factory training. Tim rides a 2000 Wide Glide®, a 1984 Monte Carlo SS and 1969 Nova set up for bracket racing. Tim is a NHRA racing team member, campaigning a 1978 Malibu, turning sub-10 second quarter mile ET's.

After working there for eight years, he relocated to Crow River Harley-Davidson® in Delano, MN for one riding season and then joined us at St. Paul Harley-Davidson® in 2011. Mike is current with all PHD in-dealership training and instructor-led training. He is ranked as a Master of Service Technology by Harley-Davidson University. Mike has also completed Buell 1125R powertrain training and is active in Buell in-dealership training programs. Mike rides a 2003 XL-1200 and pursues leisure activities with vigor in his off time. | |

Pete has earned the PHD rating Master of Service Technology through instructor-led, dealer sponsored, training. He was previously a certified locksmith with four years of experience and does most of the key work for the St. Paul Harley-Davidson® service team. Pete also has experience as a Service Advisor, placing him in tune with customer needs and expectations. Pete enjoys all aspects of Harley-Davidson® service and repair and is a valued member of the St. Paul Harley-Davidson® Service Department.

| Service Technician – Ryan Winget is a 2001 graduate of Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, with ten years of experience at Saint Paul Harley-Davidson®. Ryan is a Master of Service Technology, the highest rating in the factory’s PHD service training program. Ryan rides a 2007 V-Rod® and is currently building a Custom Street Rod Pickup. Ryan specializes in tough project work and trouble-shooting and is a highly respected member of the service team. The St. Paul Harley-Davidson® sales team often sends the most difficult projects Ryan's way, knowing they will be completed correctly and in a timely manner. Ryan is an avid shooter and reloader. He enjoys hunting, fishing and attends as many car rallies as possible.

| Dedication is the only word for our Service Advisor team. Some people say that the Service Advisor position is the toughest in any dealership. Knowing the product is just the beginning. Mastering project management and understanding customer concerns enables this team to be successful. Team members include Jeff Lemon, Phil Gork, and Sam Hacker. They are your personal advisors and advocates.
While the Service Advisors know what you need, our Dispatcher knows how to get things done... probably the key position for customer satisfaction in the Service Department. Mike Smith touches every work order and he knows what it takes to get the work out on time and done right the first time.
| |
| The Service Office is staffed by Kristen and Meggi. Kristen Rasmussen oversees the multi-facetted environment of service administration, where she handles the daily billing and accounting practices required to successfully run the department, answer questions from customers and assist the Service Advisors when needed. | |
| Our Service Parts team is totally dedicated to the Service Department's Technicians. Leon Parenteau and Nolan Danley serve our Technicians & Service Advisors. They work under tremendous pressure and are experts in their field. These professionals find the parts — whatever they may be — our technicians need to maintain or repair your bike one way or another ASAP. That sounds easy, but is far more difficult in practice. The folks they serve always want it NOW and these guys make it happen!

| Our Senior and Supervising Service Assistant is Tim Bonniwell. Harley-Davidson® is a family tradition with Tim, who was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is a graduate of North St. Paul High School. Tim joined the team in 2003 and has been riding and building motorcycles for more than 35 years. He knows them all. Tim leads a five person team, overseeing all the activities hidden from the public. They keep the Service Department rolling. Tim is an avid fan of Harley® motorcycle drag racing. And, yes, he takes his work seriously, as you can see. | |
| Leslie Brom is our Warranty Administrator. She manages all warranty claims for all departments, which is a complicated process. Leslie joined the company in early 2001, leaving a computer software analyst position in the health care industry. This experience brings the kind of analytical mind and process orientation necessary to ensure our compliance with the high warranty documentation standards demanded of Harley-Davidson Motor Company. This ensures the best benefit for our customers. Leslie is a native of St. Paul, Minnesota and a graduate of Harding High School.
